Senior Estates Surveyor (Ref no: 1N205P)
Salary range £43,097.00 - £45,233 p.a
The Council is seeking to employ a Senior Estates Surveyor to join its successful and expanding Property Services team, which manages a varied portfolio of property and related projects. The role will provide a comprehensive property service to the Council and will include property management, professional work (rent reviews, lease renewals and valuations including annual asset valuations) lettings, acquisitions, disposals and project work, including redevelopment and regeneration.
It is an exciting time to join the team as the service is expanding, with recent acquisitions totaling over £20 million and a further £4.5 million planned. The current portfolio is valued in excess of £100 million and there are also a number of forthcoming major development and regeneration projects including the recently announced Brookfield Riverside £400 million development. The duties of the role also include managing the Council’s innovative and award-winning housing company, Badger BC Investments.
The successful post holder will be a qualified Chartered Surveyor, in order to provide supervision to junior professional and administrative staff. There is also a requirement to be a registered valuer or to have the ability to become one. The successful candidate should ideally have experience of working for a Local Authority property section although this is not essential. A calm approach in a busy environment is needed, as are intermediate ICT and Microsoft Office skills. Communication is key in this role (both written and verbal) so it is essential that the successful applicant will be able to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluently spoken English.
Both full time and part time applications, together with an element of flexible working will be considered for these roles.
We are committed to safer recruitment, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
The benefits package includes generous leave entitlement, a full training and development programme, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and free membership to the Council’s local leisure centres, which includes free access to gyms, swimming pools, fitness classes, racket sport sessions, a health suite and a range of generous discounts across other leisure and culture services.
