Post: Senior Environmental Health Officer (Housing)

Salary: £48,138.48 p.a.

Broxbourne Council is looking for a Senior Environmental Health Officer to join its Environmental Health Team. The successful candidate will be suitably qualified and experienced to take a lead role in the delivery of the service which works to improve the quality, safety, energy efficiency and management of private sector housing within the Borough.

You will be required to manage your own housing caseload, have experience of the housing health and safety rating scheme and experience of dealing with houses in multiple occupation. The Council deals with HMOs to ensure they are legally compliant. You will be required to have experience in taking enforcement action where necessary. 

You must have a relevant degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and ideally be registered to practice as an Environmental Health Officer. You must be able to demonstrate up-to-date and detailed knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, Renters' Rights Act and other legislation relevant to the post, specifically acts relating to housing conditions and licensing of houses in multiple occupation.

You must also be trained in HHSRS and have a good knowledge of housing construction. You must have excellent customer care skills, a full valid driving licence and be willing to attend landlords’ forums out of office hours. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public is essential in this post.
