Highways Engineer
Post: Highways Engineer Part-time (16 hours per week)

Salary: £18,237.44 p.a.
Located in south-east Hertfordshire, Broxbourne Borough Council serves a thriving community of more than 111,000 residents, with its proximity to London and the M25 giving it a wider impact than you might expect from a district council.
The Council is leading and assisting with a wide range of highway infrastructure projects across the area and are seeking an experienced Highways Engineer to deliver a wide range of highway and traffic initiatives.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Participating in works associated with processing and supervision of vehicle crossover applications
- Undertaking projects relating to highways, traffic and other infrastructure improvements
- Assisting with the maintenance of public rights of way network
- Assisting with the supervision of roads offered for adoption on new developments
- Preparing reports and providing technical advice to other departments
- Attending meetings, dealing with the public and handling enquiries and complaints
- Co-ordinating work programmes with the existing part-time Highways Engineer.
To apply for this post, you will need to demonstrate that you:
- Have a relevant Engineering or Technical qualification
- Have a wide range of experience in dealing with highways and traffic matters in a customer-driven environment
- Have good organisational, time management and communication skills
- Have the ability to handle multiple projects at once
- Have a current valid driving licence.
This post allows the option to work flexibly, which may involve home, office or site working in accordance with the needs of the post.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
